While the World Cup is dominating all the news here, there is, of course, another Cup happening. I was at home this morning listening to the 5th game of the Stanley Cup finals on internet radio. With Edmonton down 3 games to 1, it could’ve been the last game and the first period sounded really good, so I decided to ride over to the Maple Leaf Sports Bar in Shibuya and catch as much as I could of the remainder. As you can see from the photo, the bar has the requisite wood decor, Canadian flag, Mooshead poster, and snowshoes on the wall – felt like I was at a bar in Haliburton!
There were only about 15 people in the bar for the game (keep in mind it was a weekday morning at 9 am), including a guy from CBC radio who was interviewing everyone about why they were there (kind of an odd question!), where they were from, etc.
Now, back to the other Cup – looking forward to the England vs. T&T game in a couple of hours…
