For those of you who’ve been following tokyololas for a while, you know I’ve written a bit about the issue of male-only primogeniture and the arrival of a new heir to the Japanese throne (here and here). Well, here’s our first glimpse of the little XY saviour:

Pictured with him as he visits his grandparents (the Emperor and Empress), are his father (Prince Akishino) and his Bio-Uterine-Womb-and-Nourishment Device (also known as Princess Kiko) but she’s not really that important – too many X chromosomes to be of much interest (other than for her ability to deliver the right product).
